Storytailor helps children understand and be understood through make-believe. Create a character and a story around their interests, questions, feelings or something happening in their world. Read, listen and play together, giving children and grown-ups somewhere to start a conversation.

Storytailor is designed with children ten and under in mind. Choose a reading age when you create. Younger children can listen or read with you; confident readers can take the lead. The grown-up chooses the details and stays part of the experience.

Your first two stories are free, and you can create up to 10 characters. They use the Plus story experience, so you can explore a personal story before choosing a subscription. The two stories are a starting allowance, not a monthly refill. Get started or compare plans.

No. Start with a little idea: a cloud learning to ask for help, a first day somewhere new, or a pancake dragon. Share as much or as little as you like. The prompt bar can suggest an idea if you’d like a place to begin.

Use Storytailor in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You can read, listen and try the activities without extra equipment. Compatible Philips Hue lights and Sonos speakers add another way to bring a story into the room.

Yes. Upload a clear scan or photo of their drawing when creating a character, then review the character details before bringing them to life. Make that character the star of a story, or start with words instead—no drawing needed.

Yes. Include details that matter, such as skin tone, vitiligo, hearing aids, a wheelchair or a family experience. A character can be human or an imaginary creature. Share only the details you want reflected, and review the result together. See our approach to trust.

Yes. Save the character in your library and bring them into a new story. A familiar friend can return for a different question, a big day or an entirely silly adventure.

Tap a word in a story to hear it, explore its meaning and save it for later. It gives you a way to pause on something unfamiliar and talk about it together, right where the word appears.

Yes. Choose a language when creating a story, or translate an existing story. A translation creates a new story and uses a story credit. Check the language choices in the app for the current selection.

Yes. Share a story with a link, or use Care Circle to give chosen people access to selected Storytailor IDs and their libraries. A public story link can be opened by anyone who has it. Library access and Insights access are separate permissions. Read about sharing and access.

For original creations, yes—as between you and Storytailor, any ownership rights that exist are yours, and we assign you the transferable rights we hold. Existing Storytailor characters and other people’s protected material are excluded. This is not a guarantee of copyright protection or exclusivity. A child’s original drawing remains the child’s; uploading it does not change its owner. Read the creative-rights terms.

You can keep and enjoy it under the personal-use permission in our Terms. Booster Starling, The Void, Chomp Chompasaurus and our other existing characters remain part of Storytailor’s world. Your own protectable contributions remain yours. Selling, commercially publishing or merchandising a story with our characters needs a separate written license. You pay for the creation process and service features, not ownership of the character. Earlier grants are not retrospectively narrowed. Read the creative-rights terms.

We encourage personal use. If an original idea grows into a commercial project, bring in a human writer, editor and children’s illustrator. Check local laws for AI-assisted works, arrange permissions and contributor agreements, and review any publisher’s requirements. Original output is not automatically barred from commercial use; Storytailor and third-party characters have separate limits. Authorized classroom and care use follows the relevant organizational agreement. We cannot promise legal clearance or protection from claims. Read the creative-rights terms.

Children love imagining adventures with familiar heroes. The rights in those characters still belong to their owners. A drawing, a personal-use intention or a new story does not automatically grant permission for every use. Use material you have permission or another lawful basis to use. Storytailor cannot grant rights to someone else’s characters. Read the creative-rights terms.

Your original story and character are separate from the voices, music and sound effects that bring them to life. Owning a story does not give you ownership of a narrator’s voice or unrestricted rights to extract, sell or distribute standalone soundtrack assets. No. We love picture books and the people who make them. Storytailor is for the question, feeling or little adventure that needs a story now. Keep reading, borrowing and buying the stories your family loves. If you want to take a new idea into publishing, bring human writers, editors and illustrators into that next step. Keep the drawing clear and easy to see. Remove names, school details and other private information that the character does not need. Upload artwork only with the necessary rights and authority, including permission to act for a child. Do not use this feature for photographs of people. Uploading a drawing does not transfer ownership of the artwork or submit it to a public gallery. Keep the original; the new character is an interpretation, not a guaranteed exact copy. Individual includes 15 new stories per month. Plus includes 22. Both include unlimited character creation. You can compare the allowances, billing choices and shared-access options on the pricing page.

The free starting allowance covers 10 character creations or major edits in total. It does not refill, and deleting a character does not restore it. Paid plans include unlimited character creation. Story creation has its own allowance.

Family is for a child’s circle of grown-ups. It includes six adult accounts on one subscription, with controls over who can view or create. Family, Family Plus and Family Max have different daily story allowances per child. Compare Family options.

Choose Organization when staff need to work together through a shared organization library, staff roles and central billing. It starts with three staff seats. Family is designed for a family’s grown-ups; Organization is designed for teams working with children. See Organization pricing.

Available billing options and the total charge are shown with each plan. When you select yearly billing, the monthly figure is the annual price divided by twelve; the displayed annual total is billed together. Organization has monthly and yearly options.

Sign in and open Billing to review your subscription and available changes. If a charge, cancellation or plan change needs help, contact Support using the email on your account. Never include a full payment-card number or password.

Yes. Storytailor gift cards are delivered by email with a note from you. Choose from the available durations on the gift page, where you can review what the recipient receives before buying.

Yes. Begin with a topic, a learning goal or a question from the children. Choose the reading age, language and character, then review the story before sharing it. Activities can carry the idea into a classroom conversation or shared play. Explore Storytailor for educators.

Eligible child stories created by teacher, librarian, afterschool leader and childcare provider roles include lesson-plan companions. Eligibility depends on the creator’s role and the story, rather than choosing Plus alone. If you teach at home or your account role doesn’t match your work, ask our team about your setup.

Create stories for preparation, conversation and shared play around a visit, an unfamiliar place or a child’s questions. Use your team’s actual explanation, then review the result against the child’s situation before sharing. Explore Storytailor for care teams.

No. Stories and activities can give children a way to express themselves. Storytailor does not diagnose, make clinical decisions or replace professional care. The grown-up or professional interprets what the child shares; a story is not an assessment of how a child feels.

Explore API/MCP access and Sign in with Storytailor through our developer platform. For a branded experience, white-label inquiry or team requirements, talk with us about what you’re building. These are different from choosing a family subscription.

No. A grown-up manages the account. Children have managed Storytailor IDs for their stories and preferences, without a separate child login or billing account.

Yes. Storytailor uses AI to help create personalized stories and characters, with content safeguards and adult controls. Generated content can still get things wrong. Read together, review details that matter and report anything that needs attention. See our approach to trust.

Only what you want reflected in the experience. An interest, reading age or imagined character can be enough to start. Avoid adding details a story doesn’t need, especially private medical or identifying information. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Pause and review it before continuing with the child. Use Support to describe the issue and include the story title or link if useful. Share only the details needed to understand the problem.

Use Privacy Support for a data request or help with account deletion. Use the email associated with your account so the team can guide you through the appropriate verification. See the privacy policy for more detail.

Start playback, then check the story’s sound control, your device volume and any connected headphones or speakers. If it still won’t play, refresh the page and try again. If you contact Support, include your device, browser and what happens when you press play.

Connected lights and speakers can add atmosphere to story time. Connect supported equipment through the app’s settings and choose how you want to use it. You can still read and listen on your device without them. If a connection needs help, tell Support which service and device you’re using.

Start at Sign in with the email you used for Storytailor, and follow the available sign-in or recovery options. If you originally used Apple or Google, use that option. Contact Support if you’re still stuck, without sharing your password or verification codes.
